How to Determine Your Head Size
A correct head measurement is essential to creating a beautiful and becoming hat, one that will be worn and enjoyed for many years to come. After all, why go to all the trouble of having a hat custom created for you if it's going to be so uncomfortable or such a bad fit that you never wear it.
To determine your head size, use a flexible measuring tape made of plastic or cloth.
If you don't have a flexible measuring tape, you can use a non-stretchy string. After you have marked the exact circumference, lie the string down on a flat surface and measure the length with a flat ruler.
Place the tape gently around the head to measure the circumference over the forehead, just above the top of the ears and over the bulge in the back of the head. Keep the tape measure parallel to the floor. The average head size is 22-1/2" but it can vary anywhere from 19" to 25" or more.
The measuring tape should rest comfortably around your head. Please do not pull the measuring tape too tightly or that's the way your hat will fit.
Please measure 2 or 3 times to ensure accuracy.
You now have your head size!
